Sarmede es un pueblo de 3000 habitantes con las aldeas de Rugolo y Montaner. Se extiende a los pies de los Prealpes trevisanos en la zona de Vittorio Veneto, provincia de Treviso, a pocos kilómetros del maravilloso bosque del Cansiglio, del cual Venecia obtenía la madera para sus naves.

Cada año, en otoño, alberga la Muestra Internacional de Ilustración para la Infancia, “Le immagini della fantasia” y, en el segundo y tercero domingo de octubre, el Festival de Teatro.

En los meses de Junio y Julio es la sede de los tradicionales cursos de ilustración organizados por la Escuela de verano “Stepan Zavrel”.
